Cork Roadbed ROLL, 6mm - S scale
Cork Roadbed, S Scale - 0.85" wide ROLL 6mm thick by 48 feet long. Creates 24 feet of S-scale roadbed when laid as two parallel strips.
Cork has been the sub-roadbed material of choice for decades. It's all-natural, clean, provides an appropriate rise to create a ballast profile while helping to deaden the sound.
This product is 6mm thick and is used for S scale mainline track applications. Rolls are unique in being able to deliver long, sweeping curves without traditional joints. Unlike strips, rolls do not have a bevel edge. The slope of the ballast profile is created with a bead of caulk. Use a thin, steep application for highly groomed mainline tracks and a thicker, wider application for older or less-well maintained lines. We recommend DAP Alex or Dynaflex (Tan) caulk.
A single roll is slightly longer than 48-feet. Laying two strips side-by-side will produce 24-feet of roadbed from a single roll. Strips are 0.85" wide and produce a roadbed 1.7" wide.
Rolls allow roadbed to be shipped more economically than long strips! Five rolls (120 feet) fit in a single 14x14x4" box that doesn't require excess size shipping rates.
