Be the talk of your train room, or just set your office busy/free status via the blade position! This desk ornament stands over 22 inches tall over the mast pinnacle and nearly 34" to the tip of the blade. It is illuminated and mounted on a wood base with a cork cushion on the bottom.
This semaphore is exactingly scaled from actual blueprints and contains the same casting parts as the prototype. The light enclosure is slighly modified to adapt it to electric illumination via a 12V LED. A 12V power supply is included. Actual glass lenses are used. The mast is a 1" PVC pipe with a reinforced base. Holes are provided for custom wiring. The blade can be positioned to prototype aspects.
Three blade styles are available - Home Absolute (Red/White with flat end), Home Permissive (Red/White with pointed end), and Distant Permissive (Yellow/Black with fishtail end). Specify your desired blade type when ordering.
Note that since the base is natural wood, the appearance can vary slightly. We use White Oak with a curved edge. A very limited supply of live-edge oak boards are available and can be requested. We make no guarantee of availability of live-edge boards!
The semaphore is shipped as a partial kit to ensure safe delivery. Total assembly time is about 5 minutes and requres just a Phillips screwdriver.
- The mast is placed over a reinforcing dowel and screwed to the base with 4 provided screws.
- The blade is attached to the arm with 4 provides screws and lock-nuts (finger tight!).
- The semaphore mechanism is mounted to the mast and clamped with 4 provided screws.
- The finial is press-fit to the top of the mast until no white is visible on the shaft.
These are produced to order and take about a week to ten days to prepare before shipping. These are 3D printed using PLA+ and are NOT suitable for outdoor use. As these are custom made to customer specifications, they are not returnable.
