Our turnout control system consists of two parts - a small linear actuator box installed beneath the points and a servo control that mounts below the layout. A steel shaft connects the two components through up to 10" of scenery, and longer lengths are possible.

By using a linear actuator below the points, no rotary or arcing stress is placed on the throw-bar. Motion is smooth and stress-free. The actuator is 6mm high - the same as most cork roadbed - and is fully enclosed requiring no maintenance or lubrication. A standard 9G type servo is mounted below the layout to drive the shaft and up to two SPST micro-switches. The switches can be used to route frog power and provide turnout route indication. A spring-wire connection from the servo to the shaft absorbs any over-travel and minimizes stress.

We offer two versions - a full kit including the actuator, servo mount, servo, micro-switch and hardware, steel shaft, and spring wire, or a bare kit with the actuator and servo mount - you supply the servo, switch, and shaft. The full kit includes a 100mm shaft and we offer options for 150mm and 300mm shaft lengths, or no shaft at all. If you need lengths longer than 300mm, order the no-shaft version and purchase a 2mm steel rod from a local hobby shop or hardware store in lengths up to 48".

This kit requires about 10 minutes to assemble. You should have 1/4" drill bit long enough to reach through your scenery stack. Using your own shaft requires a drop of CA to secure the actuator arm to the shaft. A 1.5mm Allen key is needed to secure the servo actuator arm to the shaft.
