Finding a way to securely mount signals, streetlights, and other lighting devices on your foam-topped layout has been challenging, until now! Simply drill a 1/2" hole through your base, insert the mounting tube from below andscrew the mounting tube to the plywood base. Mount your signal in the cap using the original nut and thread the wires through the tube, then snap the signal into the tube.
The mounting tube is sized to fit through 1/2" plywood and a 1" foam board, plus a thin amount of scenery material. It can easily be trimmed to fit with a razor saw. The cap securely holds your signal or lamp post and snaps into the tube - no glue needed. This makes the device easily removable for service. The tube has sufficient space for wires and actuating rods. You may need to drill an additional hole if your actuating rod (crossing gate or semaphore) does not pass through the threaded base of the signal device.
